the joys of a laundry room.

11:16 AM

Confession.

When we started remodeling our house, we grossly underestimated how long things would take.

For example, we took apart the laundry room, thinking to ourselves, Oh, this will only take a few weeks to put back together. Because we totally know how long things like this take—we watch HGTV.

Let me tell you something, HGTV LIES. This stuff takes wayyyy longer when you have full-time jobs and a life.

So, the few weeks have turned into us dragging our laundry to our parents houses for SEVEN MONTHS.

YES. SEVEN.

But, the laundry-hauling, thank-you-parents, we-feel-like-were-back-in-college days are over! The laundry room is done! (Outside of putting the doors on it.) HALLELUIAH!

Ive got to show off this newest, and first, completely finished part of the house. I may or may not have shed tears of joy.

Let me show you some pictures—leading up to the finished result. And can I just mention that my husband is a remodel rockstar?? Because he is. Love you babe!

So, there was only a simple shelf, nothing recessed, one little bulb light, and nasty tile when we started. We tore out all the tile, recessed the water knobs and dryer vent, and added electrical outlets...

Got even more fun tools (thanks Jess and Brian and kids!)...

Added two can lights, painted, and textured the ceiling to match the rest of the room...

Added a washer/dryer tray and some cabinets...

Moved the washer and dryer in...

Put in a hanging bar for clothes...

Cried because it was so beautiful...

Built some shelves for storage...

And added the cutest little trashcan ever!

Who knew I'd be so happy to have a laundry room? And yes, I smile every time the laundry beeper goes off. :)
