valentine's day.

10:30 AM

Valentine’s Day is, how my husband describes it, the one holiday where people are either super happy or extremely depressed. For all those people who will be sad on Thursday, send me your address and I will mail you a lovely Valentine. For those of you who will be happy, I am so glad you have a special someone to share your day with.

I am very lucky, because I will be the happiest girl in the world on Thursday. I will be spending my Valentine's day with the man of my dreams. We truly are a perfect match.

So, in honor of Valentine’s Day, I will tell you a little love story. But not the “how we fell in love” story, just one of the many things I love about Josh story.

Once upon a time, I got the flu. It was a nasty thing, and included all the symptoms. I was miserable. After buying me Sprite and soup and wrapping me in blankets, he asked if I wanted to watch a movie or something. Light hurt my eyes, so I sadly said no. But then he came up with an idea. He took me in his arms, carried me to bed, and picked up a book. He read to me. The kind of reading that requires lots of voices and inflection and drama and short and long breaths. The kind of reading where I rested my head on his chest and laughed and gasped and felt those long and short breaths as I cuddled into him. He immersed us in the book—in the moment—and it was a moment when love reached beyond romance. It reached to the deepest threads of the heart, binding together passion and friendship.

To those of you still looking for love, keep looking! You will find it. To those of you who have found love, never lose it. And to both the lookers and the founders—never forget to take time for little moments.

Happy Valentine’s Day week, and may you be blessed with a love far deeper than romance.
